Mommy was going through the pool bag today getting it all ready for summer and look what she found! And they still fit!

New Lens!

Daddy got Mommy a new 50mm lens for her camera and it arrived tonight! These are just two quick shots she took - aren't they pretty? And that's Straight Out Of Camera (SOOC) which means she didn't do ANY editing to them!
Ignore Dash, he was not pleased with the prospect of going to bed. And I swear he just does this whenever he sees the camera.

How can you not think he's the cutest kid in the history of EVER.

I bought him this outfit that came with a matching hat, figuring I'd end up tossing the hat. But he got ridiculously excited when he saw it and insisted on wearing it all day.

Don't Take My Picture Dash

So I've been working on my photography skills and felt badly that I have tons of great pictures of Fin and so few of Dash. So I tried to do a little session with him today...and lets just say that promising him a dollar to use at Target doesn't go NEARLY as far. And lets also say that trying to photograph Dash manually and without the benefit of autofocus is not easy. Brooks told me I was not allowed to frame this one...
And this was the best I got! Don't worry, we're going to try again this week. I'm going to get some candy for the next attempt...
And ignore my silly frames. That's what happens when you're all pregnant and can't fall asleep...

Dooder the Hut

Dash will eat anything. He is a bottomless pit. And I swear he must have two hollow legs because I have NO idea where the child puts it all! But lately, his culinary tastes are verging on the ... well ... disgusting. Add to that the fact that he's going through a condiment obsession phase and the outcome is not good (nor are the resulting diapers). Current favorites are ketchup and carrot sticks (or anything else), guacamole and tortillas, and just about anything that dips well and generally makes a mess. Last night, he outdid himself. Dad got his camera phone out to document it. And this is what happens when you eat LEMONS dipped in MARINARA SAUCE. Horf.

Don't let the face fool you, he kept at it till the lemon was only peel.

Cooking With Toddlers - Part 1

Today we met up at Monika's house to make "cake pops" (we got the idea from Bakerella). So first you bake a cake, which Monika was smart enough to do in advance. Then you mash up the cake and mix it in with some icing...


(Fin just wanted to eat the icing, no idea where he gets that from!)

Then you watch TV and wait while the mommies take your cake mush and roll it into balls...
...And you wait some more while they dip sticks in melted chocolate and stick those in the balls...
...Then you wait some more while they dip those balls in chocolate and let them sit in the fridge to harden a bit...
Note: we forgot the all important Styrofoam to place the popsicle sticks in. Playdough (although a good idea) was NOT a recommended substitute. This photo was taken right before they all fell over and decorated the inside of Monika's fridge. Sorry Moni!

After the pops are chilled, we got to decorate them. They were supposed to be smiley faces, but we took some artistic liberties with that...
Fin again wanted to simply eat the decorations...
Dash opted not to decorate and went straight for the eating...
And this is what happens when you feed kids waaaayyy too much sugar and let them stay up past nap time (note Maya in the background). However, this made for a VERY good nap!
